UPCOMING EVENT: BlackOut Stomp

DJ Opus is hosting one of the largest high school stomps this year (so far - we're planning on beating our own record on New Years!!) at the Davis County Fairgrounds on November 27th - that's the day after Thanksgiving.  Based on the response we are already getting, this is going to be one LARGE bash and we're stoked to have such a good-lookin' crowd ready to shake their thang!

If you're in high school and you feel like being social on Black Friday (who wouldn't after two days of turkey and sleeping?), this is the place to be: Davis County Fairgrounds Building #2 at 8pm.  The dance goes until 11 and it's $5 for the night.  If you show your face by 8:15, we'll give you a dollar off at the door. . . totally enough to buy a water while you're inside!!

Halloween Havoc

We hosted a private party the night before Halloween and are extremely grateful that no cops were called about our noise ordinance violation!  We had the entire basement of Carlee's house ready for the soiree - we had the lasers set up, the amp at it's fullest and we partied into the night.

These private parties are a blast for us to play host at as nobody really knows what DJ Opus is going to pull off but we guarantee that it'll be goooood.

Check out some of the outrageous costumes that we saw that night.  Nothing says "Happy Halloween" like a man dressed like a female aerobics instructor and Cruella De'Ville doing the Boot Scootin' Boogie.

Check out these bad-a birds!

And their softer side. . .

Superman AND Superwoman made an appearance. . .

This WAS as gross in person as you think. . .

Thanks for having us play host at your party!  We had an excellent time.  See you next year!

Excel Dance Studios

This is the first of our Halloween festivities this year. . . and it was a spectacular start to the season.  We landed a gig at Excel Dance Studios in Layton to DJ their annual Halloween dance in October.  We spent the night dancing to good tunes including, but of course not limited to, our favorite seasonal jams. . . thanks Michael for Thriller and thanks 1980-something for The Monster Mash. . . heehee.

Here are some pics form the event:

Thanks for having us there!  We hope to come back soon. . .

What do Thriller, Hooked on a Feeling and a kilt have in common?  We didn't think much until we played host at this Scottish-themed wedding!  But as you can see, the groom found a way to make it all work and brought all three of these things into one eternal round.

One of our favorite parts of playing dj at weddings is all of the special request numbers - daddy/daughter dances, first dances, and in this case, an ode to the bride by the groomsmen and groom to the ABBA classic Hooked on a Feeling.  We worked with the bridal party to set up what can only be defined as a zaney lip-synch and had a great time watching them own it.

After all of the traditional dances were underway and the groom tracked down some underwear (it's a Scottish thing apparently??  We didn't ask because we didn't want to know. . .), the rest of the night got started with some top 40 jams, country classics and even some, ahem, MATURE music for the older crowd.  Everyone had an excellent time dancing for several hours and making live request after request.

Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day!  We couldn't have had more fun.

Taking the parade to new, foamy places.

We were able to throw a float into the Ogden Parade over the summer and I think we made a splash. . . with the crowd anyway.  Nothing brings Utahns out in mass like a hot summer day and a parade, that's for sure.

The rig was impressive on its own (at least we think so) but attaching our Foam Machine to the top of the trailer and washing down Washington made us the hit of the show.  The crowds moved into the street to play in the foam as we jammed our tunes and brought the crowd to their feet.

The parade was excellent as we were able to see so many people that we've partied with in the past.  We've had an excellent time playing host to your many events and hope to see more of your special events this fall and winter.

Check out the pics from the parade.  Did you see us?  Let us know what you thought by leaving a comment or two!

Two Hens and an Opus equal a Good Time!

We were invited out to the Freeport Center to help Two Hens Deli celebrate their one year mark of serving the public delicious food.  This day was no exception.  The food and the treats were in full swing and so was Opus Productions as we brought our full bank of sound equipment to help celebrate.

It's completely cliche to say "A good time was had by all. . ." but seriously, it was.  Thanks for letting us celebrate with all of you at Two Hens.

Happy Birthday with a twist. . .

You know how you set out knowing that you are going to have a great time and your expectations are completely met, even exceeded? Yeah, we know it doesn’t happen often but it sure did with this Sweet 16 party in the park. We had the best time playing host to a group of teens that were ready to dance. . . and get wet!

We were asked to bring out the big guns for this one – full audio and dj services as well as our newest addition to our production family – The Foam Machine. The party was at a full tilt once the foam starting spilling out and the guests realized that this was a “No Inhibitions” zone. Even some smaller kids that saw what was going on couldn’t help but join in the fun.

Check out some pics from the party:

We had an excellent time with this one and hope to do more of this when it warms up again. Thanks for letting us be a part of your rockin’ day!

Union Station Stomp

We threw a stomp at one of Ogden’s most renowned spots – the Union Station. This was a great party with dancing and games and all the sassy teenagers we could handle. We also brought along one of our associated photographers to put on a live photo session for our guests – man, did they know how to work the camera!

Check out some pics of the dancing that went on. If you were there, let us know about it by leaving a comment!

Pretty sure this guy is teaching these ladies how to throw down some Thriller. . .

Thanks for coming out guys! You can stay up-to-date on future events by becoming a FAN of Opus Productions on FaceBook or book your next event at djopus.com.

Salsa at Bella's

This is an event that isn't in our normal "repertoire" but we were so glad that we took the challenge and made it happen!

Bella's invited us out to dj their salsa dancing classes and we had a great time harnessing out inner Latin flavor to accomodate.  We still aren't sure which was better - finding some killer salsa tunes or watching the crowd learn how to dance it up.

Thanks for the invite Bella's. We hope we can do it again.
